Major Question: Should the United State enter World War I?

Making Generalizations: Below are groups of statements made before, during, and after America’s involvement in World War I. Read the statements in each group and identify the key reasons why the United States entered World War I. Then write ONE SENTENCE that summarize the major arguments presented in each statement.

3. "We didn't win a thing we set out for in the last war (World War I). We merely succeeded, with tremendous loss of life, to make secure the loans of private bankers to the Allies." —Senator Gerald Nye of North Dakota, Chairman of the Senate Munitions Committee (circa 1936)

Germany might have won if the U.S didn’t join WW1. The U.S had nearing war after the German atrocities became public. The Zimmerman telegram was the final straw which asked Mexico to invade the U.S. From any logical point of view, that was the right coarse of action. This decision also helped the U.S in the long run by making them more attached to foreign affairs.
