How do i factor 12x² - 48 ?

12(x^2-4)
12 is the highest common factor (HCF) therefore it goes outside of the brackets. Then, 12x^2 divided by 12 will give x^2, so that is the first term inside the brackets. -48 / 12 = -4 so that is the second term in the bracket.
