Answer is Area = 16

*note answers rounded to nearest hundredth

Step by step

The distance between two points formula is

d=√((x2 – x1)² + (y2 – y1)²)

(1,7) and (5,3) length points
(5,3) and (3, 1) width points

Length
d = √ (5-1) ^2 + (3-7) ^2
d = √ 16 + 16
d = √ 32
d = 5.66

Width
d = √ (3-5)^2 + (1-3) ^2
d = √ 4 + 4
d = √ 8
d = 2.83

(1,7) and (5,3) = 5.66 length
(5,3) and (3, 1) = 2.83 width

Area is L x W

A .= 5.66 x 2.83

A = 16
