Since we already know the value of one of the variables (4) just move it into place.
2(4)+y=2
now multiply 2 by 4 to remove parentheses
8+y=2
subtract by 8 on both sides
y=-6

if you want to check if this is correct, simply change y to -6
2(4)+(-6)=2
8+(-6)=2

Answer:

Substitute x = 4 into the equation to find y.

2(4) + y = 2

8 + y = 2

y = -6

To check if it satisfies the equation, substitute values of x and y into the equation.

2(4) + (-6) = 2

8 - 6 = 2

Since, it satisfies the equation, the missing coordinate is -6.
