1/4hr + 1/3hr = 1/x
You multiply each term by 12x so all the denominators = 1 .
4x + 3x = 12
7x = 12
x = 1.71
Therefore, it will take 7/12 hours ( approx. 1.71 hours) to paint the entire room together.
