Negative Numbers go backwards from 0 so counting the tick marks from 0 to -2 is 2 spaces to the left. -11 is 11 ticks to the left. -17 is 17 ticks to the left.

-17 would be three tick marks to the right of -20

-11 would be 9 tick marks to the right of -20 or 6 right of the tick mark for -17

-2 would be 18 tick marks to the right of -20 or 15 tick marks to the right of -17 or 9 tick marks to the right of -11
