I know the answer I just need someone to EXPLAIN not just tell me but EXPLAIN this to me pls!!

The veterinarian told Sally that her cat needs to lose 5 pounds. A healthy weight loss for her cat would be about 1 pound every 2 weeks. To model this situation, she graphed the following line, where y represents the number of pounds left to lose and x represents time in weeks.
The equation for this line is y =___ x + ___ . If she continues the line, she would see that it would take___weeks for her cat to lose 5 pounds

Answer: The equation for this line is y = -1/2 x + 5. If she continues the line, she would see that it would take 10 weeks for her cat to lose 5 pounds.

Answer:

You already know the answer, but anyway it's 10 weeks with y = 0,5x + 0

Explanation:

Basically what you have to do to find the equation is to pick 2 random points on the line drawn to get the solution.

I take (0, 0) and (2, 1) because they are the simplest ones.

The equation for finding a line with 2 points (that actually are 4 coordinates x1 = 0, y1 = 0, x2 = 2 and y2 = 0) is:

(x + x1) \ (x2 + x1) = (y + y1) \ (y2 + y1)

that becomes:

(x + 0) \ (2 + 0) = (y + 0) \ (1 + 0)

simplyfing this, it becomes:

x/2 = y ---> y = 1/2x that you can write on the answer page as y = 0,5x + 0
