Answer: It does not represent a function.

What is a function?

An expression, rule, or law which relates an independent variable to the dependent variable.

Defining Characteristic: A function will only have a single input for a single output.

  • The input is the x-value and the output is the y-value.
  • When looking at the data we see contradictions

For the input 0, there are 2 outputs, 5 and -5

  • From above we learned that a function only has a single output for each input.

Therefore, the set of ordered pairs does not represent a function.
