A streetlight that is 8 feet tall casts a 3-foot-long shadow. A nearby flagpole cats a 15-foot-long shadow. What is the height of the flagpole?

URGENT: I looked this up and someone said 20ft, if you’re doing this on Big Ideas it will mark it as WRONG. The answer is 40ft. I don’t know how but I just did it and I don’t want anyone else getting it wrong. (it wouldn’t let me comment on the other one since the question was too old)

Answer:

40 ft

Explanation:

Put as a ratio:

(8)/(3) = (x)/(15)

Cross multiply and get:

3x = 120

Divide by 3 on both sides:

x = 40

Hope it helps!
