Yes they are but not for humans just animals like fishes!

Answer and Explanation:

Oceans are like giant swimming pools for marine life. Not really for people though. One difference that most swimming pools tend to have chlorine in them. If not, then they have salt water similar to an ocean. The chemical substance chlorine is not good for marine life at all, and isn't really good for people either.

But instead of chlorine, oceans have types of bacteria that aren't good for people either, especially if ingested in high amounts. So, if you've ever accidentally swallowed sea water and felt a little sick to your stomach, this could be why. They are similar though because they both have water and a form of bacteria.

They are not connected in a way of cycling water with each-other, but they do have similarities and differences as I had mentioned before.
