Mesopotamia that rose up above the flatness of the land. What am I?

Hello there. I studied Mesopotamia a couple years ago and have done some extra research to ensure accuracy. I've answered to the best of my ability, I hope this helps you!

*Cuneiform was one of the first forms of writing developed by the ancient Sumerians. Do not confuse this with hieroglyphics, as that is a formal writing system developed by the Egyptians.

Answer: Pietro della Valle

* Pietro della Valle traveled the world during the Renaissance era. He explored the Middle East, the holy land, etc.

Answer: Iran.

I am the place that held the key to unlocking cuneiform writing. Where am I?

Answer: Persia.

*This is now modern day Iran.

*Darius I was the fourth king of the Persian Achaemenid Empire

I am the pieces of pottery, tablets, helmets and spears found at an ancient site. What am I?

Answer: Artifacts.

I spent twelve years excavating the Sumerian city of Ur. Who am I?

Answer: Sir Leonard Woolley

*Sir Leonard Woolley was a British Archaeologist well known for his excavations in Ur.

I am the place that is home to ancient Sumer. Where am I?

Answer: Tells.
