Answer:

Area of triangle= 6 cm²

Area of rectangle = 30 cm²

Explanation:

Area of composite shape:

BC = 5 cm

Use Pythagorean theorem to find AB,

base² + altitude² = hypotenuse²

4² + altitude² = 5²

16 + altitude² = 25

altitude² = 25 -16

altitude² = 9

altitude = 3 cm

\sf \boxed{Area \ of \ triangle = (1)/(2)*b*h}

\sf = (1)/(2)*4*3\\\\= 2*3\\\\= 6 \ cm^2

\sf \boxed{\text{Area of rectangle = length * breadth}}

= 5 * 6

= 30 cm²

Area of the composite shape = area of triangle + area of rectangle

= 6 + 30

= 36 cm²
