Explanation:

3.3 billion is (in the American counting system)

3.3 × 1,000,000,000 = 3.3 × 10⁹

each transistor weighs

5.1 × 10^-23 grams

so, the total mass is

3.3 × 10⁹ × 5.1 × 10^-23 = 3.3×5.1 × 10⁹×10^‐23 =

= 16.83 × 10^-14 = 1.683 × 10^-13 grams

FYI : if we would use the counting system of other languages, then we would have

1,000,000 million

1,000,000,000 milliarde

1,000,000,000,000 billion = 10¹²

and then the result would be

1.683 × 10^-10 grams
