since (2, - 3 ) lies on the graph then it makes the equation true.

substitute x = 2 and y = - 3 into the equation and solve for a

2(- 3) = a(2) - 7 , that is

- 6 = 2a - 7 ( add 7 to both sides )

1 = 2a ( divide both sides by 2 )


(1)/(2) = a
