Answer:

x = 1 ± √3

Explanation:

Factorizing using quadratic formula:

x² - 2x - 2

Co-efficient of x² = a = 1

Co-efficient of x = b = -2

Constant = c = -2

D = b² - 4ac

= (-2)² - 4 *1*(-2)

= 4 + 8

= 12

\sf x = (-b \ \± √(D))/(2a)

\sf = (2 \ \± √(12))/(2*1)\\\\\\=(2 \± √(2*2*3))/(2)\\\\\\= (2 \±2√(3))/(2)\\\\\\= (2)/(2) \± (2√(3))/(2)\\\\\\= 1 \± √(3)

\sf x = 1 + √(3) ; \ ; or \ x = 1 - √(3)
