The county fair charges $4 for 8 rides and $10 to get

in. If you have $32, write and solve an equation to
find the number of rides (r) you can go on.

You can go on 40 rides.

A $10 entry fee is 32 - 10 = 22. You go into the fair with $22 for rides, r.
4x = 22 (if x = number of times you can purchase the 8 rides)
divide both sides by 4 to isolate variable
x = 5.5
We need to round DOWN to the nearest whole number because (I assume from the given info) that you can only buy in packs of $4.
4 • 5 = 20. You can buy 8 rides 5 times for $20.
the number of rides, r, is shown by r = 8 • 5
r = 40 rides.

Note: you’ll still have $2 leftover.
