The poet uses the word "Barter" as a title to show the exchange of one thing for another, and the poet has done this by using an abundance of figurative language. For example, the first lines of stanzas one and two are extended metaphors that tell the readers that life is a salesperson selling its loveliness, and the author follows that up with imagery to show that: such as "blue waves", "soaring fire, "children's faces". In the third stanza the author asks for the readers to "barter" for loveliness.
