How did Renaissance art differ from that of the earlier period in terms of painting technique?

Renaissance art developed some more stylistic choices. It introduced more advanced concepts of depth and colour. Before, a lot of paintings were quite dull and plain. The Renaissance revolutionised art with a much more bright tone and more depth for a deeper immersion.
