4) Jim and Edna are planting a rectangular garden with 6 rows of equal numbers of pepper

plants. Each row will be 60 feet long. They set the plants 3 feet apart and start planting at one
corner of the garden. How many plants will they need?

Explanation:

They need six rows with an equal amount of peppers on each row, luckily, everything we need to solve is problem is right in front of us.


First we divide the amounts below

How long the rows will be / How far apart the peppers will be spread.

As we can see that gives us 60 / 3, which should be 20.

Now that we’ve completed this portion we can move on.


Multiply your answer from the division, by how many rows there are.


Our answer from the division was 20, and as we can see there are six rows.


20 x 6 = 120.
