Will equation 2/5 + 3 squared be rational or irrational? Why?

The short answer is
(2)/(5)+3^2 will be considered rational.

Rational Numbers are numbers in which can be expressed as an integer or the quotient of an integer divided by a nonzero integer. For example, the number can be represented in the form of
(p)/(q) , where P and Q are integers and Q ≠ 0.

  • Example (
    (1)/(3), (2)/(4), (1)/(5), ...are all considered rational.

Irrational Numbers on the other hand cannot be written in the form of simple fractions. In other words, it is a real number the isn't able to be made by dividing two integers.

  • Example (
    √(2), √(3) , √(5),... are all considered irrational.
