Answer:

x=
(10)/(7)

Explanation:

8 + 3x = 1 + 7.9x

1. multiply everything by 10 so there is no longer a decimal in the equation

80+30x=10+79x

2. get the x on one side so we -10 and 30x from both side

70=49x

3. divide by 49 on each side as we want to find the value of x

(70)/(49)=x

4. the fraction can be simplified to

(10)/(7)=x

4. the final answer is

(10)/(7)=x

GROUP LIKE TERMS TOGETHER.

3x - 1.79x = 1 - 8 \\ 1.21x = - 7 \\ (1.21x)/(1.21) = ( - 7)/(1.21 \\ ) \\ x = 5.7851239669
