2x+3y=7 + -2x+5y=9
= 0-2y=-2
= -2y=-2 (then divide both sides by -2)
= y=2
Substitute your y value into one of the equations:
2x+3y=7
2x+3(2)=7
2x+6=7 (then subtract 6 from both sides)
2x=1 (then divide both sides by 2)
x=1/2 or 0.5
