Answer: I changed 2 items ({2} and ix), so review carefully. The length is (x-70) feet.

Explanation:

Area = x^2 - 110x+2800

Width = (x-40)

Area = Width x Length

(x^2 - 110x+2800) = (x-40)*L

L = (x^2 - 110x+2800)/(x-40)

L = (x - 40)(x-70)/(x-40) Factor the numerator.

L = (x - 70) feet
