Which is an essential item to have in your backpack when you go for a hike?

I mean, a water bottle would be great but it depends if you have a water source. If not, a cooking pot would be nice because it’s possible to go fishing with your bare hands, or catching fish in the cooking pan. A nature book would be good to have but I’m sure you can tell most things from poisonings and things that are going to kill u lol
