Ribbon candy cost $2.50 per foot. How many feet can you buy if you have $11.25?

Answer:

11.25/2.50=4.5.

You should be able to buy 4.5 feet, but you would round down to 4.

Explanation:

Since you know how much each foot of candy is and you know much money you have in total. If you find the number of times 2.50 goes into 11.25, you will find the total amount of candy you can buy.
