Answer:

x=-3,-1,2

end behavior: as x approaches negative infinity, f(x) approaches negative infinity; as x approaches positive infinity, f(x) approaches positive infinity.

Explanation:

step 1: end behavior

To use the end behavior chart, look at the first term in the equation and ask yourself 2 questions:

  1. is the coefficient positive or negative?
  2. is the exponent even or odd?

in this case, the first term is
x^3. The coefficient is positive 1 and the exponent of 3 is odd. find where those two answers meet on the chart. it is

x → -∞, y → -∞

x → ∞, y → ∞

step 2: find the zeros

you have to find a factor of the equation you can use to do polynomial division. In this case, it is (x+1). when you divide the equation by x+1 you end up with
x^2+x-6.

Factor
x^2+x-6 to get
(x-2)(x+3). Don't forget that (x+1) is also a factor. your final factored form will be
(x+1)(x-2)(x+3). set each of these equal to 0 and solve for x.

x = –3, –1, 2
