The survivors of the plague earned large amounts of money from the work they did. This led to a change in the social class system because the formerly dirt-poor farm workers were moving into a middle class, which didn't exist at the time. People also wanted to find easier ways to farm now that they didn't have hundreds of barely-paid workers to work all day instead. This led to many advances in the farming industry.
