Ashton's final exam in math had two parts. He had a total of 50 minutes to complete the entire exam. He spent 25 minutes on Part 1 of the exam. Write and solve an equation to show how much time he had left to complete Part 2.

25 + m = 50; m = 25 minutes
m − 25 = 50; m = 75 minutes
25m = 50; m = 2 minutes
m over 25 equals 50; m = 1,250 minutes

Answer: A; 25 + m = 50; m = 25 minutes

Explanation:

Ashton has a TOTAL of 50 minutes to complete the exam. We can not eliminate any of the answers. He SPENT 25 minutes on the first half of the exam. We can eliminate A and D because they are not subtraction. SPENT means subtract. We can also eliminate B because 75 minutes is much greater than 50 minutes and he has a total of 50 minutes only. Therefore, the only possible answer is A.

The answer is A; 25 + m = 50; m = 25 minutes
