Make the denominators the same (15)

3x - 3/15 = x + 5/15

Then subtract either 5/15 or add 3/15 to both sides. (im subtracting)

3x - 8/15 = x

Now subtract 3x on both sides

-8/15 = 2x

Now divide both sides by -2

4/15 = x
