Given :-

  • A equation y = 3x -1 .

To Do :-

  • To identify slope and y intercept and then sketch it's graph .

Solution :-

Given equation to us is ,

→ y = 3x -1

As we know that , the slope intercept form of the line is ,

→ y = mx + c

where m is the slope and c is the y intercept .On comparing both , we have ,

  • slope = 3
  • y intercept = -1 .

So the graph will cut the y axis at (0,-1) . And will have a slope of 3 .

When y coordinate is 0 ,

  • say the point is (x,0) .

So that ,

→ x - 0 / 0 -(-1) = 3

→ x/0+1 = 3

→ x/1 = 3

x = 3

Hence one other point is (3,0 ).

Now we may plot the graph using these two points (3,0) and (0,-1) .

For graph see attachment .

I hope this helps .
