Answer:

4

Explanation:

the division is similar to dividing 2 numbers.

6x² + 11x - 3 ÷ 2x - 1 =

first we find 6x²/2x.

that is easy, right ?

it is 3x.

now we multiply (2x - 1) by 3x, subtract that from the current left side and pull down the next term :

6x² + 11x - 3 ÷ 2x - 1 = 3x

- 6x² - 3x

---------------

0 + 14x - 3

we now find 14x/2x.

that is simply 7.

and again we multiply (2x - 1) by 7, subtract that from the current left side and pull down the next term, if there is one. if not we are finished :

6x² + 11x - 3 ÷ 2x - 1 = 3x + 7

- 6x² - 3x

---------------

0 + 14x - 3

- 14x - 7

---------------------

0 + 4 finished

so, we have something left at the bottom that is not 0. and that is our remainder : 4

officially, the result of the division is

3x + 7 + 4/(2x - 1)
