Explanation:

Make x the subject of h=4(x+3y)+2

h = 4(x + 3y) + 2

perform multiplication on right side:

h = 4x + 12y + 2

subtract 12 y - 2 from both sides:

h - 12 y - 2= 4x + 12y + 2 - 12 y - 2

h - 12 y - 2= 4x

so flipping the equation:

4x = h - 12 y + 2

divide both sides by 4:

4x/4 = (h - 12 y - 2)/4

x = h/4 - 3y - 1/2
