1) Add 13 on both sides 5+13=18

2) Divide both sides by 2 18÷2=9

3) Take the cubed root of both sides; since 9 does not have a perfect cubed root you can no longer simplify it

4) answer is x =

2x³ - 13 = 5

+ 13 +13

(2x³ = 18) ÷ 2

∛(x³=9)

x = ∛9
