Line j passes through point (2,0) and is perpendicular to the graph of y=1/4x-3. Line k is parallel to line j and passes through point (-1,6). What is the equation in slope-interest form of line k?

Explain pls

So first we'll find the slope of line J.

Since it is perpendicular to the slope of 1/4, we will flip the numerator and denominator and multiply it by -1.

1/4 becomes -4 and that is the slope of line J.

Slope intercept form is:

y = mx + b

m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

So our equation now becomes:

y = -4x + b

In order to get the y-intercept, we need to plug in the values of (-1, 6).

6 = -4(-1) + b

6 = 4 + b

b = 2

So our final equation is:

y = -4x + 2
