Answer is y = -3/4x + 5
Step by step
First we find slope with
Equation y2 - y1 over x2 - x1
2 - 8 over 4 - -4
-6 over 8 or simplified -3/4
Now for slope intercept form
y - y1 = m (x - x1)
We will use (4,2)
y - 2 = -3/4 (x - 4)
Distribute
y - 2 = -3/4x + 3
Add 2 to both sides to isolate y
y - 2 + 2 = -3/4x + 3 + 2
y = -3/4x + 5
