Answer:

5. 45.5

8. 75

Explanation:

5. Area of larger right triangle: AB/2

Given A = 7, B = 18

A = 7(18)/2 = 63

Area of smaller right triangle: AB/2

Given A = 7, B = 18 - 13 = 5

A = 7(5)/2 = 17.5

So the area of the shaded triangle is 63 - 17.5 = 45.5

8. Area = area of triangle + area of rectangle

Triangle: A = HB/2 = (3 x 10)/2 = 15

Rectangle: A = lw = 10 x 6 = 60

15 + 60 = 75

Hope this help

Answer:

#5

Area = Area of bigger triangle - Area of small triangle

{ \rm{area = ( (1)/(2) * b_(b) * h_(b)) - ( (1)/(2) * b_(s) * h _(s) )}} \\ \\ { \tt{area = ( (1)/(2) * 18 * 7) - ( (1)/(2) * (18 - 13) * 7) }} \\ \\ { \tt{area = (9 * 7) - (2.5 * 7)}} \\ \\ { \underline{ \tt{ \: \: area = 45.5 \: \: sq \: units \: \: }}}

#8

Area = area of square + area of two right angled triangles

{ \tt{area = (s * s) + 2( (1)/(2) * b * h)}} \\ \\ { \tt{area = (6 * 10) + (3 * 5)}} \\ \\ { \underline{ \tt{ \: \: area = 75 \: \: {m}^(2) \: \: }}}
