When we want to find a slope with just two coordinates, we need to use the slope equation (where m represents slope):


m = (y_2 - y_1)/(x_2 - x_1)

Either coordinate can represent 2 or 1, but I always like to choose the coordinate with the higher x value, because it makes more sense to me. So my coordinate 2 will be (6, 4) and coordinate 1 will be (-3, -7).

We can then plug that in to the previous equation:
m = (4 - (-7))/(6 - (-3)) = (11)/(9)
