In congruent triangles, corresponding angles are congruent.

ΔABC ≅ ΔDEF

∠D ≅ ∠A

5x + 2 = 87

5x = 87 - 2

5x = 85

x = 85 ÷ 5

∠B = ∠E = 42°

In triangle ABC,

∠A + ∠B + ∠C = 180°

87 + 42 + 3y = 180

129 + 3y = 180

3y = 180 - 129

3y = 51
