When you are working with absolute value inequalities, when do you have to switch the direction of the given symbol? Is that the only time that an inequality symbol can be affected?

Answer: You switch the direction of the given symbol when multiplying or dividing by a negative number. As well as this, you must flip the sign of the original equation, after solving, to make it the opposite.

When you do either process to both sides by a negative value you make the side that is greater have a bigger negative number. This means it is now less than the other side.

Hope this helps!
