Answer:

m = - 6, m = 2

Explanation:

To solve by FACTORING we require to expand the factor and rearrange

(m + 2)² = 16 ← expand left side using FOIL

m² + 4m + 4 = 16 ( subtract 16 from both sides )

m² + 4m - 12 = 0 ← in standard form

(m + 6)(m - 2) = 0 ← in factored form

Equate each factor to zero and solve for m

m + 6 = 0 ⇒ m = - 6

m - 2 = 0 ⇒ m = 2

Answer:

m= 2, -6

Explanation:

(m+2)²=16

(m+2)= ∓ 4

For +4,

m+2=4

m=2

For -4,

m+2=-4

m=-6
