A shell is fired from the ground with an initial speed of 1.73 x 10^3 m/s at an initial angle of 42° to the horizontal.

a . using the formula for range which is given by:

R = (u²sin2θ)/g

= 1730²sin 42/9.8

= 2.04 x10⁵ m

b. given that we have the distance it covered and velocity it was traveling with we can get the time

T = S/v

= 2.04 X 10⁵/1.73x 10³

= 117.9 seconds

= 2 minutes
