Some of the strengths that Odysseus displays throughout the Odyssey is endurance, leadership, and resourcefulness. Odysseus displays endurance by enduring all the excruciatingly hard obstacles he had to overcome throughout his journey, such as lasting 7 years on Calypso island and saving his crewmates from Circe. Odysseus displays leadership by guiding his men through the hard times they all had to encounter, such as the Island of Cyclops, Lotus Flowers, the 3 obstacles faced after Circe's island: Scylla, the six-headed monster; Charybdis, the monster of the whirlpool; The singing sirens. And finally, Odysseus displays resourcefulness by using what was around him to battle the Cyclops, Polyphemus. He did this by crafting a heated stick that he eventually used to blind Polyphemus when he was asleep and then proceeded to trick him by using his own cattle to escape.
One of Odysseus' weaknesses would be his arrogance which caused him to be cursed as once more he exclaimed it to Polyphemus and now that he knew Odysseus true name, he was able to pray to his father that Odysseus be cursed and never made it back to his homeland. Odysseus reveals his arrogance by his lucky success in his plan of dealing with the angry Cyclops. Another example would be how he claimed that was the one who won the ultimate battle, this shows that one of his weaknesses is his pride. He gained this after his war band and wooden horse trick lead to the Greeks winning against Troy as they successfully retrieved Helen and made their way back to their own separate homelands.
