Given the cost function, C(x), and the revenue

function, R(x), find the number of units x that must be
sold to break-even.
C(x) = 6000x + 112,000
R(x) = 14,000 x

Answer:

To break even x = 14

Explanation:

So, what you need to know is the value of x so c(x) and r(x) can be the same or break even.

1) Make the equation

6,000x + 112,000 = 14,000x

2) Get x on one side ( I did 6,000x so I wouldn't have to deal with negative numbers )

6,000x - 6,000x +112,000 = 14,000x - 6,000x

112,000 = 8,000x

3) Get x by itself

112,000/8,000 = 8,000x/8,000

14 = x or x = 14

4) Check your work!!!

6,000(14) +112,000 = 14,000(14)

196,000 = 196,000
