P(Left figure) = 2 * x + 2*6

P(Left figure) = 2x + 12

P(right figure) = 2*(2x + 2) + 2*x

P(right figure) = 4x + 4 + 2x

P(right figure) = 6x + 4

Now you want the perimeters to be the same

6x + 4 = 2x + 12 Subtract 2 x from both sides

6x-2x + 4 = 12 Combine

4x + 4 = 12 Subtract 4 from both sides

4x-4 + 4 = 12 -4
