Answer: So we know that the grocery store owner makes 20 pounds of candy.

Here are the numbers we are working with:

$3.25

$5.25

$1.25

Explanation:

The explanation for this is 20 x 3.25

That is 65, so 65 x 5.25 = 341.25

341.25 x 1.25 = 426.5625

The Answer:

The owner used 10 pounds of chocolate and 10 pounds of lollipops

The explanation:

Chocolate = C = 5.25$
Lollipop = L = 1.25$

1 pound of candy cost 3.25
20 pound will cost: 20x3.25 = 65$

1) 5.25 C + 1.25 L= 65$
2) C + L = 20 pound

According to the second equation: C+L = 20
C = 20-L
We use this on the first equation "5.25 C + 1.25 L= 65$"

5.25 x ( 20-L) + 1.25 L =65
105-5.25 L + 1.25L= 65
105-4 L = 65
4L = 105-65
4L= 40
4/4 L= 40/4
L= 10 pounds

We use 10 on the second equation
C + 10= 20
C= 20-10
C= 10 pounds
