Answer:

k = 1

Explanation:

since the polynomial is divisible by (x + 1) then x = - 1 is a root and will make the polynomial equal to zero.

substitute x = - 1 and equate to zero

(-1)^(100) + 2
(-1)^(99) + k = 0 , that is

1 + 2(- 1) + k = 0

1 - 2 + k = 0

- 1 + k = 0 ( add 1 to both sides )

k = 1
