The sum of two numbers is 66. Two times the lesser number is 15 more that the greater number. What are the numbers?

Answer:

39 and 27

Explanation:


we consider x as small and y as big.

so x+y= 66
=> x = 66-y ..............(iii)


and
2x = y+15
=> 2(66-y) = y+15
=> 132 - 2y = y +15
=> 3y = 132-15 = 117
=> y = 117/3 =39

from iii we get,
x= 66 -39 = 27
