What is the value of the sum 1/3 and 2/5

add them, and now you get

Explanation:

you have to change them to common denominators.

i chose 15.

to make the denominator for 1/3 into 15 you have to multiply it by 5 which means you have to multiply the numerator (1) by the same thing which gives you 5/15

to make the denominator for 2/5 into 15 you have to multiply the denominator by 3 so you have to multiply the numerator (2) by the same thing which gives you 6/15

you now have the equation 5/15 + 6/15

to add them together you leave the bottom numbers the same and add the top ones which gives you 11/15
