no, the pilgrims separated from Britain as they didn’t want to be part of it. They’re also known as “the separatists” because they separated from Britain due to religious reasons. Britain didn’t have freedom of religion at that time, and since the Pilgrims believed in another religion, they decided to leave Britain and settle somewhere else, which happened to be Massachusetts, Boston. But now, there was a problem. They didn’t have a government that would make sure everyone is following laws and rules. And for that, they created the Mayflower Compact.

No they considered them self as two separate nations and that is why they came up with the mayflower compact as a whole was to be separate from Great Britain.
