Answer:

Debra is 1

Explanation:

Let d = Debra

let p = Pamela

p = d +7

p+6 = 2(d + 6)

p + 6 = 2d + 12 Substitute in d+ 7 for p

d + 7 + 6 = 2d + 12

d + 13 = 2d + 12 Subtract d from both sides

13 = d + 12 Subtract 12 from both sides

1 = d

Debra is currently 1.

If Debra is 1 then Pamela is currently 8. In 6 years, Debra will be 7 and Pamela will be 14.

14 divided by 2 is 7. 7 times 2 is 14.

Answer is 1.
